The BCT is an international standardised test of Chinese language proficiency, which focuses on assessing non-native Chinese speakers’ abilities in using the Chinese language in real business or common working environments. It is a worldwide vocational-based assessment tool developed by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) – a public institution affiliated with the Ministry of Education, China.

The CWPL Programme covers the four language skills in Chinese – Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing, required to function in the work environment. Training providers will bundle the skills and levels to form different types of training programmes according to market demand.
Trainees will be advised by their training providers on the type of International BCT they should attempt based on the training programmes attended. Trainees who have attempted the BCT may use their BCT results for placement into the respective course levels.
Trainees will receive an International BCT e-certificate from Hanban indicating their scores for the Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking skills respectively, depending on the type of International BCT taken, after successful completion and assessment of each course.
