The Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications System for Aerospace (Aerospace WSQ) maps out the skills needed for technicians in the aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) industry. Aerospace WSQ is fully supported by the Economic Development Board (EDB) and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).

Aerospace WSQ benefits workers by creating an accelerated career path for aerospace professionals. For example, a non-certified technician with a WSQ-aligned Specialist Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering can become certified after gaining one year’s work experience and passing CAAS examinations.

Technicians can also advance and become licensed aircraft engineers through the WSQ aligned Foundation Degree in Aircraft Engineering.

The WSQ programmes train you for the skills and competencies required for job roles in the following areas:

  • Aircraft Maintenance
  • Component Repair and Overhaul
  • Engine
  • Aeroplane Turbine
  • Avionics

The WSQ Certifications are awarded by SkillsFuture Singapore, and recognised by Workforce Singapore, Economic Development Board (EDB), Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the industry.

With the roll out of the Skills Frameworks in 2016, the WSQ programmes will be progressively aligned to the SF developed for the sector.
