13 Highly Skilled Youths Awarded Gold Medals at WorldSkills Singapore 2023 Competition

122 participants contended for top honours in 12 skills areas at the WorldSkills Singapore (WSS) 2023 competition. WSS 2023 took place from Wednesday, 29 March 2023, to Saturday, 1 April 2023, with competition venues spread out over the five Polytech
At the closing ceremony held at ITE College West this afternoon, Minister of State for Education and Manpower, Ms Gan Siow Huang, presented a total of 43 medals – 13 Gold, 18 Silver and 12 Bronze. Individual Gold, Silver and Bronze winners received cash prizes of $3,000, $2,000, or $1,000 for respectively, while winning teams received corresponding cash prizes of $4,500, $3,000, and $1,500 each. Top medallists from the WSS competition will be included in the 44-member contingent to represent Singapore at the 13th WorldSkills ASEAN (WSA) Competition in July 2023. Mr Tan Kok Yam, Chairman of WorldSkills Singapore Council, and Chief Executive of SkillsFuture Singapore, said, “We congratulate all participants of WorldSkills Singapore 2023. They have demonstrated passion for their craft, tenacity in their practice and coolness under pressure. I am confident that our youths will do us proud, again, at the upcoming WorldSkills ASEAN.”
For the first time, Singapore will be hosting the 13th WSA Competition from 22 to 27 July 2023. Themed “Our Skills, Our Future”, the competition will see close to 250 top youth talents from ASEAN member countries competing in 22 skills areas.
