New Skills Pathway for Cloud Launched to Build Tech Talent Pipeline
28 August 2025
The initiative led by Singapore Computer Society and in collaboration with SkillsFuture Singapore and Infocomm Media Development Authority aims to groom talent to support Singapore’s growing digital economy.
With growing digitalisation, cloud is becoming an increasingly critical component of our digital economy and the demand for cloud talent has been growing. It is critical for Singapore to grow our cloud talent pool and equip local tech talent with cloud skills so that they can effectively build, scale and maintain cloud infrastructure and solutions. In response to this growing need, the Singapore Computer Society (SCS), with support from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), has launched a Skills Pathway for Cloud to build a strong pipeline of qualified and job-ready talents for Singapore’s rapidly evolving technology landscape.
The Skills Pathway for Cloud aims to groom professionals in cloud capabilities by providing a structured route for individuals to attain industry-recognised certifications that will enhance their career prospects. The initiative provides opportunities for individuals to be considered for internships and job interviews with participating employers, which can lead to job placements. Open to new entrants and mid-career individuals looking to transition into the sector, the initiative includes industry-relevant training and provides opportunities for individuals to be considered for internships and job opportunities with participating employers. The list of industry-recognised cloud certifications can be found in Annex A.
This is the second Skills Pathway developed by SCS in its role as a Skills Development Partner appointed by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). In July 2024, SCS launched the Skills Pathway for Cybersecurity. Since then, over 180 individuals have secured internships or employment through the Skills Pathway. This strong uptake and success of the Skills Pathway for Cybersecurity have reinforced confidence that companies can come together to agree on skills and courses needed for particular roles, and in doing so, guide individuals to take up the relevant training and career pathway. The pathways also address a sharply rising demand for IT-related training, with SSG-supported learners in cybersecurity, AI, and digital marketing rising from 34,000 in 2023 to 96,000 in 20241. The strong uptake and success of the first Skills Pathway are a testament to the demand for job-relevant training and the support for the SCS Skills Pathway initiative.
The Skills Pathway for Cloud is employer-centric and industry-led with the involvement of 14 key employers including DBS, Centre for Strategic Infocomm Technologies, HTX (Home Team Science and Technology Agency), and ST Engineering.
Building a Cloud-Ready Workforce Singapore Needs
With the growth of Singapore’s digital economy, the demand for tech talent continues to rise. According to the IMDA annual survey on Infocomm Media Manpower, the number of tech jobs has grown from 172,000 in 2019 to 214,000 in 20242. Roles in domains such as cloud, network and infrastructure has one of the largest shares of tech roles across the economy over the past few years, reflecting the technology’s growing demand. Against the backdrop of this high demand for cloud computing roles and the success of the first Skills Pathway for Cybersecurity last year, SCS’s launch of a Skills Pathway for Cloud is expected to build a strong pipeline of qualified and job-ready talents for Singapore’s rapidly evolving technology landscape.
The Skills Pathway for Cloud is structured into two levels and prepares individuals for four key entry-level roles.
| Requirements | Can be considered for
|
Level One | Level One certification | Possible internship opportunities with participating employers |
Level Two |

The four key entry-level roles available are:
