SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme – Company Training for Digital Transformation in the Built Environment

SSG has partnered with Johnson Controls, a global leader in smart building management, and Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) to roll out the first course in the Built Environment sector under the SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme – Company Training. The course is titledSGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme – Company Training for Digital Transformation in the Built Environment. Participants will be equipped with digital and smart facilities management skills in key areas such as building services management, green building management and workplace health and safety. Participants will undergo a six-month curriculum that comprises three months of classroom training co-delivered by Johnson Controls and NP, and thereafter a three-month attachment hosted by Johnson Controls. Through the course, participants will gain essential skills for emerging job roles such as Smart Facilities Manager, Digital Customer Success Manager and Project Manager.

Up to 100 mid-career jobseekers are expected to benefit from the course. Johnson Controls will also provide employment facilitation as part of the course.

The subsidised course fee is $500, which participants can offset using their SkillsFuture Credit. In addition, each enrolled participant will receive a monthly training allowance of $1,500. SGUnited Skills Global Tech Talent Programme

SSG has also partnered with NP to roll out a new course, the Global Tech Talent Programme, under the SGUnited Skills Programme.

The 6-month course aims to equip participants with skills related to both digitalisation and internationalisation, to develop a local talent pipeline that can support companies in their overseas operations. The course will prepare participants for job roles such as Software Engineer, Application Developer and Full-Stack Developer.

Participants will undergo three months of classroom training curated by NP where they will be trained in the use of programming languages such as Python and JavaScript for front-end and back-end web development. Participants will also undergo a three-month overseas apprenticeship¹ at companies in sectors such as technology and e-commerce. Through on-the-job training, participants will be able to continue building their foundation in programming and web development, and develop internationalisation skills in areas such as legal issues, data governance and marketing. Upon completion of the programme, selected candidates may be offered job opportunities in their apprenticeship company. Career advisory and employment assistance will also be provided to support participants in their job search.

The Global Tech Talent Programme will cost $500 after subsidies, which participants can offset using their SkillsFuture Credit.
