SkillsFuture Work-Study Programme expands its reach with new offerings

The Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), supported by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), will introduce nine new SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes from October 2023. This was announced by Ms Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for Education and Manpower at the SkillsFuture Work-Study Fair today, which is part of the ongoing SkillsFuture Festival.

Themed “Step into your LIT Future”, this year’s SkillsFuture Work-Study Fair was organised by Ngee Ann Polytechnic, in collaboration with other polytechnics and the Institute of Technical Education. The Fair showcased work-study opportunities for fresh graduates and the industry partnerships that underpin the work-study ecosystem.

Expansion of SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes

Since its commencement in 2015, more than 10,000 participants and more than 2,400 companies have benefitted from SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes. To expand work-study opportunities for Singaporeans, SSG is working with the IHLs and industry partners to roll out new SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes across emerging and growth sectors, which are enabled by the active support of companies.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between NCS, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic, to launch two new SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes in the Infocomm Technology (ICT) sector. Under the MoU, NCS has partnered the three polytechnics to develop the training curriculum to equip participants with skills in the latest technologies and practices, and to provide mentoring, job rotation, and workplace learning and career opportunities:

• Ngee Ann Polytechnic for the SkillsFuture Work-Study Certificate leading to Part-Time Diploma in Full Stack Development; and

• Republic Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic for the SkillsFuture Work-Study Certificate leading to Part-Time Diploma in Software Engineering.

In addition, Singapore Polytechnic will roll out three new SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes:

• SkillsFuture Work-Study Certificate leading to a Part-time Diploma in Business Practice (Business Management)

• SkillsFuture Work-Study Post-Diploma (Advanced Diploma in Applied Science and Engineering Microelectronics and Materials)

• SkillsFuture Work-Study Post-Diploma (Specialist Diploma in Full Stack Web Development)

Temasek Polytechnic will roll out four new SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes, including two which embed Sustainability concepts required for in-demand job roles in the Built Environment and Design sectors:

• SkillsFuture Work-Study Post-Diploma (Specialist Diploma in Sustainable Built Environment)

• SkillsFuture Work-Study Post-Diploma (Specialist Diploma in Sustainable Fashion)

• SkillsFuture Work-Study Post-Diploma (Specialist Diploma in Design for Integrated Communication)

• SkillsFuture Work-Study Post-Diploma (Specialist Diploma in Interior Design Practice)
