WDA Unveils More Support For Skills Deepening Through Continuous Learning

From 1 October 2015, Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above will enjoy higher course fee subsidies from the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) under the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy. More courses will also be available for all individuals to upskill and reskill.
Under the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy, Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above will enjoy course fee subsidies of up to 90% for WDA-supported certifiable courses1. Announced by Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the SkillsFuture Council, in the Budget 2015 statement, the subsidy is introduced to support mid-career Singaporeans to deepen their existing skills or acquire blank skills. This will allow them to remain competitive and resilient in the job market. Please see Annex A for more details.
Mr Ng Cher Pong, Chief Executive of WDA, said: "Through the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy, we will provide greater financial support for mid-career Singapore Citizens to upskill and reskill themselves. The SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy will also encourage them to embrace lifelong learning and strive towards skills mastery."
More WDA-supported courses will also be available to individuals and employers. From 1 October 2015, they can choose from more than 8,000 WDA-supported courses at www.wda.gov.sg.
